Welcome to TripBudget. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you use the TripBudget mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
TripBudget is designed as a "local-first" application. We believe your travel data belongs to you. We may process:
- Trip Data: Destination names, dates, and budget targets entered by you.
- Expense Data: Transaction amounts, notes, and receipt images stored locally.
- App Preferences: Your choice of theme, home currency, and custom categories.
- Technical Data: Anonymized diagnostic data provided by Google Play or Apple App Store services.
2. Usage of Device Permissions
Notifications
We use local notifications to provide budget alerts and trip reminders. This can be toggled in both app and system settings.
Microphone & Speech
Our voice-entry feature requires microphone access to transcribe your spend amounts. Audio is processed on-device and is never stored or transmitted to our servers.
Camera & Storage
Required if you choose to attach receipt photos to your expenses. These images are stored locally on your device storage.
Clipboard
Used to provide the "Quick Copy" feature for currency conversions and budget summaries. We only write results to your clipboard and never read from it.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide real-time budget tracking and currency conversion.
- To generate spending insights and analytics.
- To personalize your experience across regions.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data never leaves your pocket. We do not use centralized servers to store your personal trip or expense information. All data is persisted locally using secure storage methods on your OS.
5. Third-Party Services
We use third-party APIs for currency exchange rates (ExchangeRate-API and Frankfurter API). These services do not receive any of your personal data.
6. Your Rights
Since your data is stored locally, you have total control. You can:
- Delete specific trips or expenses at any time.
- Use the "Clear All App Data" feature in settings to perform a factory reset.
- Revoke app permissions via your system settings.
